Financial years 2020/2021 – stable position for the future

In the 2020 financial year, the Festo Group had to cope with a 7.5% decline in turnover due to the pandemic, but was able to close with an overall operating result above the previous year. The workforce was also guided through the crisis in a stable manner. After a strong first quarter, the company expects a catch-up year in 2021. Dosing, aspirating or continuous flow – with the media-separated valves VYKA, VYKB and VZDB from Festo all three operating modes are possible. The compact yet powerful valves dose and aspirate even small quantities with a high level of precision. Thanks to their impressive pressure and nominal width specifications, they are also suitable for controlling the flow in a manifold duct plate, for example.

 

Festo in the fight against Covid-19

From the first day onwards, Festo has taken its social mandate of alleviating the Corona crisis very seriously and has launched several focused support projects, such as the development of an emergency respiratory ventilator, support in the production of protective facemasks and the installation of an emergency hospital. Moreover, the LifeTech business field offers an excellent range of components for laboratory automation and for patient care devices. Along with the medical sector, it is also important to Festo to keep production stable on a global scale in systemically relevant areas.

Festo increases turnover with electromobility

In 2020, Festo was able to increase sales in the "machines and systems for battery production" segment by 40 percent. The demand for automation for battery cell production and other e-vehicle components is increasing. Festo sees great opportunities for further growth in this segment.

SupraCube: Maximum flexibility in automation technology

In its role as a technology and innovation leader in industrial automation and technical training, With the SupraCube, Festo is presenting for the first time a SupraMotion concept in which the superconductor unit can be separated from the electrical cooler and can operate autonomously for up to two hours. The compact technology allows contactless movement and handling of objects - ideal for industries with the highest requirements for cleaning and cleanliness, such as laboratory automation, biotechnology or semiconductor production.

 

Bionic Swift: a bionically inspired robotic bird

Festo Didactic presents a new experimental set within the existing bionics educational concept “Bionics4Education”. The Bionic Swift can be used to impart relevant knowledge on the topics of bird flight, bionics and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) both in the school education environment and in the private sector.
