Selection tool saves money and reduces CO₂ emissions

Software helps with the choice between electric or pneumatic

Choosing the right drive technology in automation saves money and, at the same time, also protects the climate. So how do users find the right technology that enables them to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the long term? The new CO₂ & TCO Guide from Festo supports machine and system manufacturers to make the choice.

The online tool from Festo for comparing electric and pneumatic automation technology helps users to find the right drive technology and simultaneously reduce CO₂ emissions and the total cost of ownership (TCO). When the right drive technology is chosen, machines and systems consume less energy during operation and permanently reduce their CO₂ footprint.

Pneumatic and electric

The CO₂ & TCO Guide shows how much energy the various automation products use when in operation and how this influences the TCO. Users simply enter the application’s parameters and, in next to no time, the software creates and visualises energy-efficient and sustainable suggestions for the motion task from Festo’s portfolio of automation products. As part of this process, it also compares the pneumatic and electric applications.

The information shown includes the annual CO₂ emissions as well as the procurement and TCO costs for each solution. Based on this information, machine and system manufacturers can decide for themselves which parameters are the most important for them and which drive technology to choose.
