Connecting the future

Seamless connectivity starts with electric automation from Festo

From components to the cloud: to achieve seamless automation and digitalised machines and systems, system planners and design engineers can now rely fully on Festo. That applies to all levels of automation, from mechanical to electrical, as well as intelligent connectivity, regardless of the standard used by the customer.

As an automation partner, Festo expands the automation expertise of machine and system builders as well as operators by offering a wide range of durable components and complete handling systems, as well as control and management solutions. Integrated interfaces, innovative hardware and software solutions, forward-looking engineering solutions and the open automation architecture with seamless connectivity form a solid foundation for implementing applications in the Industry 4.0 era. That ensures seamless connectivity from the start.

Mechanical connectivity

Mechanical connectivity has to be implemented on the shop floor. Handling systems from Festo are not just compact and cost-effective, they also provide an optimal installation and working space ratio to enable the best use of space in assembly systems. For example, the spindle and toothed belt axes ELGC and the mini slides EGSC do not need any adapters and are thus easy to assemble into compact handling systems based on the “one-size-down” concept, whether as part of assembly systems, test and inspection systems, in small parts handling, the electronics industry or desktop applications.

Electrical connectivity

Servo motors, servo controllers and open-loop control systems from Festo provide the electrical connectivity to support the mechanical connectivity. For example, the powerful servo motor EMME-AS is adapted to the modular axis systems ELGC and the mini slides EGSC from Festo. It is combined with the servo motor controller CMMP-AS for perfect positioning.

Intelligent connectivity

All in all, this ensures intelligent connectivity and flexible communication of all components. With the IoT gateway CPX-IoT as an interface between the automation platform and the cloud, machine and plant builders and operators can already benefit from Industry 4.0. The IoT gateway CPX-IoT provides a turnkey connection for components and modules from the plant to the Festo Cloud via an OPC UA interface. That really simplifies data analyses, predictive maintenance and condition monitoring. The automation system CPX-E allows them to connect their own machine control and drive systems with Festo Motion Control and remote I/O from Festo for seamless connectivity at all levels.
